L.R. Fox Graduate Scholarship - Application Form (2026)
Overview
The L.R. Fox Graduate Scholarship provides funding of up to $2,000 for summer research or preparation for PhD Comprehensive Examinations. Recipients must be continuing PhD students in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and have no other sources of funding during Summer 2026. We foresee three scholarships will be available.
Eligibility
Any doctoral student in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese who is engaged in (dissertation) research during Summer 2026 and who has no other source of summer funding is eligible. Recipients must be enrolled in the current spring semester, and they must be in good academic standing to be eligible for this scholarship. This award is intended for PhD students in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese who have NO other source of funding for Summer 2026.
Required Supporting Documents:
All nominations must include the following:
- A clearly stated proposal from the applicant (one page or 250 words maximum) with specific details of the research plan and schedule for the summer;
- A curriculum vitae.
APPLICATIONS WITH ALL REQUIRED MATERIALS MUST BE SUBMITTED USING THIS FORM BY NOON (12:00 P.M.) ON WEDNEDAY, APRIL 22, 2026.
Selection Criteria
The Graduate Studies Committee of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese will review the applications and select the awardees in consultation with the Chair.
Preference will be given to doctoral students with clearly delineated research goals for the summer term and who have made timely progress toward their milestone exams.
