Biography

Nuria Martínez Suárez is a M.A. in Spanish student. She received her B.A. in English Language and Literature with a minor in Spanish Language and Literature in the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). During her studies she received several scholarships both at national level (Spain) and at European level, with which she was able to enjoy a stay in Poland taking courses of English Language and Literature and Spanish Language and Literature in Uniwersytet Wroclawski.

During her last year of studies, she developed a dissertation that conveys the analysis of the work The Fifty Minute Mermaid, a collection of poems by the Irish author Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill. The analysis is based on the effects of colonization which are personified by the poetic voice and the main characters, considering a chronological, historical and sociological perspective.
