Marcela Risso is a PhD candidate born in Montevideo, Uruguay. She grew up in New Jersey where she was a Spanish teacher. She completed a M.A at UNC Chapel Hill in 2010. She is currently exploring the intersection of affect, space, mobilities, and theorizations of modernity in Latin American women writers' travelogues about North America and Europe during the XIX and XX century.
