Advanced Placement / International Baccalaureate Credit
If you've taken Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate high school courses, you may be able to receive college credit or placement in higher level KU courses.
Advanced Placement Credit
If you score a 4 or 5 on the Spanish AP test, you will receive credit for SPAN 107 (3), SPAN 220 (5), and SPAN 322 (3).
Total: 11 credits
If you score a 3, you will be placed in SPAN 322 and receive credit for SPAN 107 (4) and SPAN 220 (5).
Total: 9 credits
International Baccalaureate Credit
If you score a 7 on the IBE, Spanish A, Literature, HL test, you will receive credit for SPAN 220 (5) and SPAN 322 (3). You will be exempt from SPAN 324/328, a minor requirement, which can be replaced by 5 hours of 400-level elective credit to reach minimum number of hours required for the degree. You will be placed in SPAN 340.
Total: 8 credits
If you score a 6 or 7 on the IBE, Spanish A, Language, HL test, you will receive credit for SPAN 220 (5) and SPAN 300 (3) and will be placed in SPAN 322.
Total: 8 credits
If you score a 6 or 7 on the IBE, Spanish B, HL test, you will receive credit for SPAN 104 (5) and SPAN 107 (2) and will be placed in SPAN 216.
Total: 7 credits
If you score a 6 or 7 on the IBE, Spanish B, SL test, you will receive credit for SPAN 108 (5) and will be placed in SPAN 212.
Total: 5 credits
